About Perrier-Jouet Champagne

Perrier-Jouet Champagne, as the name suggests, is a champagne producer founded in 1811 by Pierre-Nicolas Perrier and his wife, Rose Adelaide Jouet. It is based in the Epernay region of Champagne. The champagne brand produces around 3,000,000 bottles annually. In addition, the brand is known for setting a record for keeping the world’s oldest champagne.

The history behind Perrier-Jouet Champagne

Perrier-Jouet Champagne was founded in 1811 by a couple after their marriage. So, Pierre-Nicolas Perrier, a cork supplier, married Rose Adelaide Jouet, a Calvados producer. The Perrier family-owned vineyards, and after their marriage, they started producing champagne under the name Perrier-Jouet. Pierre used to handle sales and marketing while Rose managed the vineyards and winemaking. As a result, the production increased, and the champagne was introduced in 1815 in Great Britain and later in the United States in the year1837.

Later, Henri and Octave Gallice took over the business and became the directors. Both were art lovers. Octave met Emile Galle, one of the pioneers of the Art Nouveau movement. At their request, Emile Galle created a design that we can spot on the champagne bottles, and this is how it became an iconic emblem, and the brand flourished further.
